Sachin's 2nd peak happened to coincide with the flattest period since pre and immediately post WWII, and the retirement of McWarne (not that they were his biggest ops)

Viv's coincided with the peaks of a couple ATGs.

Tendulkar's second peak coincided with Steyn's peak too. There was Murali too, who was great until the very end.

Viv averaged 46 vs Hadlee and Imran during 84-88. He averaged 65 at home and 28 away. So was a home bully in those matches.

Tendulkar averaged 48 in his second peak against Steyn and Murali. He averaged 58 at home and 42 abroad. Struggled in SL but not as much as Viv in NZ. Much more balanced record.

His performances in SA in bowler friendly pitches outdo anything Viv did in 84-88.
