Chase is such a freaking enigma. He's picking up tons of wickets here in this competition.

Tbf any presentable spinner bowling in the middle overs will put up good numbers in the Caribbean. Watching this tournament, it is clear we are not reducing the dot ball percentage at all, apart from a few individuals (Athanaze in particular). We have so much work to do.

Same thing happened today in the current game…Jamaica v Barbados.

Spin was too much for the Bajans. They only made 176

I feel we need a massive drive to change this and an emphasis on the next gen. It's so good to see Kevin Wickham, for example, effortlessly rotating strike.

I also think these pitches have not been great, especially in Antigua. Yesterdays pitch woud have challenged any lineup to get 220 plus, it was staying low and turning from the start.

Another bug bear of mine is the umpiring. You literally can't look at the averages of a domestic batsman or spinner in the caribbean IMHO. The umpires basically give you out if a spinner hits the pad. That's why we need innovative selectors who look at the actualy physical skills of a batsman and a bowler before selecting them.

So Kelvin Pitman made his debut yesterday for the academy side. He only bowled 3 overs, which included 4 wides. But he was seriously rapid, by far the quickest bowler we have seen in the tournament's televised matches (perhaps only Shannon Gabriel would be up there with him). He also swung the ball. Impressive talent for a 19 year old. I hope they give him some more game time.

Wickam gives it serious revs for a leggie.
Also, technique-wise, Wickam is my guy.

Sunil Ambris and Andre Fletcher are currently involved in a top partnership.
Their team was in trouble...losing 4 early wickets. But these two have steady the ship with a 130+ partnership.

From what I've seen so far in this tournament is that Kevin Wickham is the leggie who gets the most spin...and he's got a clever googly to go with it.

Couple this with his awesome batting. He's the complete package.

Needs to be nurtured.

Yep Wickham really does look like an exceptional talent. I don't say that lightly either given the number of unfulfilled talents we have seen recently.

The leg spinning stocks are looking a lot better suddenly as there were 2 under 19 leggies who demonstrate serious skill.

Now we just need some players who can rotate strike. Imlach looks like one, he has a decent career dot ball percentage, so might be worth a look.

Just watched Brandon King throw away his wicket while being in absolute top form with the bat.

He made 64 of 47....but it was the manner in which he decided to be careless.

It's a 50-over game, and not a T20.

I hate this.

This is why I loved Chanderpaul as an opening batsman in LO cricket. He can build an innings.

Jamaica's bowling is kinda weaker than TT's

TT is more balanced when it comes to team composition and weapons.

The wicket is playing a touch slower today. Run scoring is hard as the spinners are on.
TT got some experienced players in the middle right now, Darren Bravo and Jason Mohammed.

So we've reached what will definitely be the last day of our tour of Australia, so I thought I'd ask this thread what this means for our test side?

• New coaching staff: Phil is leaving. He has definitely made our test side more competitive at home and we even burgled a few tests away from home. The team definitely gives 100% and he has helped install that work ethic. However, I can;t help but feel it is a good time for him and the rest of his coaching staff to go. We need some fresh direction, particularly in the batting department, where Monty Desai does not appeared to have made much difference. I also think Roddy Estwick should go, lets have a fresh start.
  
  
• New selectors? This probably wont happen, but the selectors really ought to go as well. Whilst we would have lost easily in Australia anyway, they have made some bizarre, biased decisions that actively affected the teams performance and this isn't the first time.
  
  
• A new middle order? Surely that is the end for Shamarh Brooks? Haynes has no excuse to pick him now. Bonner has more time but he needs to play pace better or he will be out. Similarly Blackwood remains but only due to a lack of options. Mayers must bat at 5 or 6 and no higher. We need new middle order options. Mark Waugh is a fairly obnoxious and poorly researched commentator, but he was spot on when he observed that the West Indies middle order is basically made of of number 6 batsmen. We desperately need an FC season with the full 10 games to bring some alternatives to the fore.
  
  
• Spin: We must always take a specialist spinner, no matter what the conditions. It was so embarresing having Chase as a specialist spinner and most of us knew that before the tour started. There is no way Motie would have been half as bad as Chase.
  
  
• Pace: Whilst with the Dukes ball we have a plethora of decent medium-fast seamers to choose from, that just doesn't cut it with the Kookaburra. We need to develop a second 140kph plus option alongside Alzarri for away tours in particular.

For me, the test lineup after this tour looks something like:

Mostly agree, but honestly drop a bowler for a batsman. Improves team balance IMO, and also lets there be another spot for a batsman to prove they can average 40+.
