Drafts being moved out of CC and into games

I mean you guys don't know that reorganizing websites (links, buttons, colour, font sizes) has impact on engagement? There are professionals who specialise in this. And usually they look at data to come at such conclusions. Those who say it must be so because I think so are not taken seriously.
Yeah, this half-assed - "No it doesn't impact X "is ridiculous, if you say you are gonna keep looking at it at least that make sense.

Especially the idea that people would stop visiting CW entirely if the drafts were transferred, that is just absurd on the very face of it, a statement deserving of nothing but ridicule
Just on this, I think it's worth noting that for me personally, this'll impact the way I engage with the forum immediately. I see the quoted post has been liked by a mod and loved/laughed at by a couple of esteemed members. Ok.

There are a significant number of forum members who draft, and those members are also people who contribute heavily to conversations in CC. There are also plenty who have been vocally against drafts who I rarely see posting in CC, it seems they prefer OT. That's cool.

I am assuming people who join the site do so by googling a cricket forum community, or cricket in general. They connect, enjoy the cricket conversation in CC, then venture into other areas of the forum as they feel comfortable.

Once again, my concerns aren't that "our drafts have been moved wah wah". I am concerned this will decrease engagement with CC in a detrimental way.

Personally, I log into CW in the mornings when I'm eating toast and drinking tea. I check any drafts I'm in or running, then I look at whatever CC thread are happening and see if anything interests me. I rarely venture into other sub-forums unless I am aimlessly cruising around with nothing better to do and time to spare.

It seems trivial and like it won't matter, but I do wanna express my concern that this is gonna effect conversation in CC, which is the forum's gateway and bread and butter.

"deserving of nothing but ridicule" apparently. Speak of being clueless and being smug at the same time.

As I said previously makes little difference to me...

...but the new sub-forum setup does not really make sense to me. I was under the impression that a sub-forum for cricket related games would be setup under CC for drafts. And another sub-forum under off-topic for non-cricket games. Still tidy but organised better?

Whatever it takes!!!

That really could be said about being on CW, following cricket or even being on the internet, tbh. :)

I, for one, think it is a very valuable PoV and feedback there, Red Hill and I think the mods and James will see it that way too. All of this is a pastime anyways, so there is no reason to disregard any opinion on how someone engages with the site as "trivial".

Thank you for explaining your concerns Red Hill, respect your point of view more so now but I think we may just have to agree to disagree on this one

Worth saying that the new forum set up is probably beneficial to this happening now, as the notifications will help keep people engaged in conversations across different sub forums. I’m glad this didn’t happen with the old forum set up.

Yeah, I agree. This isn't just about drafts. If you sub-divided CC in other ways, the effect would be just as detrimental. Say, if some boomer had a moan about comparison threads.. or the cricket history niche would we then have excluded those things from CC when they're integral to it? I'm not making a slippery slope argument FTR, just saying cutting out one niche could decrease participation in it or drive people away from CC because of it.

I mean, I'm jobless enough to keep an eye over literally everything that happens on this forum so I'm obviously not going to miss anything but there are a bunch of posters who predominantly contribute to one section.

I couldn't disagree more with this post.

Vegemite toast, real butter, sourdough bread.

English breakfast teabag, 5 minute soak, half a sugar, little bit of milk.

Only way I can start the day.

What does watching a thread do? Send you a notification if someone posts in it?
Nah it puts it on your "watched threads" (/forum/watched/threads). Which gives you a thread list you can browse, like the new posts view.
If it gave notifications you'd quickly get way too many for it to be useful.

This change also feels like middle finger to draft participants. I know mods don't think so consciously but that's how it appears. Otherwise why is this thread not in cricket games subforum?

Just started it today. Dunno what the new rules are. Mods are welcome to move it if they want.

Yeah it's a bad idea. Most of the time I join a draft it's because I've been in CC for other reasons. Half the stuff in CC is drafts and splitting the two is going to harm both CC discussions and draft participation.
Seeing this late. Want to add that new members will not get into drafts at the same rate because of the separation even if old members adjust to it. We would like to have equal opportunity access to all new members to pull them into drafts.
