The Doping thread

Thread to keep up to date with the latest drug cheats. We had Spanish cyclist Maria Isabel Moreno being the first to test positive, there was a Taiwanese baseball player as well.

Today there are reports of two more positive tests. Apparently North Korea's Kim Jong-Su who won a Silver medal in the shooting tested positive for a band substance and Vietnamese gymnast Thi Ngan Thuong Do also tested positive after finishing 82nd and last in the Women's floor...wonder if she thinks it was worth it?

Yeah we just need one of the other Heptathlon medallists to fail a test now and we have ourselves a bronze

Whenever athletes say these sorts of things the alleged culprit always ends up being caught. I remember someone saying to Darren Campbell in Sydney 2000, "it'll be gold by the morning" after he finished second in the 200, can't remember the name of the Greek guy who won gold but he pulled out of the Athens Olympics after a, ahem motorcycle accident and was soon found to be a drugs cheat.

Think if you fail a drugs Tests all medals from your career prior to then should be stripped itbt

"To be beaten by someone who came from nowhere and threw over 70 metres, means you just have to smile."
Either Sayers is talking out of her bum or the Mirror journalist has failed to understand things. Špotáková is the world champion and won at the world athletics final; she's won one and finished second at another of the two world meets she entered this season.

Silver medallist Mariya Abakumova, on the other hand, had a personal best of 64.08 metres coming into the Games and has never been up there. For my money, Sayers was talking about her, and the Mirror journo went with the best story.

What she said seemed fairly ambiguous anyway, really. "You just have to smile" could mean anything, depending on context. Obviously yer red tops are gonna be looking for the scandle angel tho.

You are talking about Konstantinos Kenteris. Id like to see evidence of this soon found proof as Im pretty sure no such evidence exists.

The only proof he'd have is that he missed a drugs test.
Yeah, I wouldnt be suprised in the slightest if Kenteris was a drugs cheat. However there is no evidence.

He was rightly banned for missed tests but that punishment preserves the law rather than proves any drug use.
