Sophie Eddington finishes 9.5 lengths behind in the back stroke semi. Your tax payer's money at work again.......

Silver will do. At least he's shown it's possible for Norwegians too. Kitajima just too good (would have liked to see a decent start & turn from Oen tho...)

(y) Stoeckel, going to be so good when either he or the Russian chap win a final the Americans would have thought was a walk in the park for them.

EDIT: Yesssss, go GB, take another gold from the Americans!

Another dud relay effort by the Aussies. Who was the chump who swam third and thought we'd better give the other mobs 2 bodylengths start on the changeover?

Bring him home.

I reckon it's only 49m long...
Yep. Like the running track in that TV series "The Games" that was on before Sydney 2000. The 100 metres track was 94 metres long. Contractor: "Not a problem really, is it?"
John Clarke: "Not until next week when the NSW under 16 state champion breaks the world record by a second and a half".

LOved the quality from the US relay team. As Clapo said, that was a quality choke from the French.

I'm hoping so much that US come out on top of the medal lead. Red China and their sweat-shop olympic athlete production-line shouldn't get ahead!

NBC here did a piece on their gymnast programs and they meant it to be flattering toward their athletic training programs, but it came out looking absolutely horrid for them, with kids as young as 2.5-3 years, hundreds of them, working 4-5 hours even at that age.

Kirsty Coventry does Zimbabwe proud once again... she doesn't exactly sound like a Zimbo, sounds more like she's from Minnesota than Mashonaland... spent too much time at uni in America to get better facilities. She's awesome though. Zimbabwe came 3rd in the medals table at the short-course championships behind the US and Oz and she won all the medals! How fantastic is that?
Mugabe has called her "as a national treasure" as quoted from her wikipedia page. Why the **** would he give a toss on what is going on?

I reckon because his unhinged mind thinks her success makes it look like everything is normal, and him praising her makes him look like less of a racist.

She is very popular in Zimbabwe though, I've seen pictures of her parade through Harare after Athens and many black and white people celebrate her victories. She is typical of many white Zimbabweans in that she is still very loyal to her country; she's probably lived in the US long enough to qualify for them but she still competes for the land of her birth.
