Olympic Tennis Thread
Most of the gun players are in it this time, from what I've read in the mens its something like 46 of the top 50 which is good. Obviously Haas didnt find the need to play as he already has an Olympic medal.
Anyway, tipping Novak for gold and theres usually a few surprises, why not someone like Jarkko Nieminen for a medal too. |

Nah, 37 of the top 50. Partly due to quotas limiting entries from Spain and France though.
Roddick, Gasquet, Tsonga, Baghdatis, Fish, Haas and Chela could all have played, but have withdrawn.

Must have been a few more withdraw from that original list, but yeh you are right, some guys, especially a couple of Spaniards wont be able to play as they have too many in the top 50.

Men's Odds for the games, it may be worth noting that Nicolas Massu won gold in Athens at $201 and all of the semi finalists started the tournament over $101.

M Ancic 101.00
--- would be good to short. Mr Ančić has withdrawn due to the flu. This would also solve the debate about Rainer Schüttler, who CAS has ruled was eligible to play in the Games after his ranking had increased. Schüttler would be second alternate, but first alternate John Isner has already confirmed his entry into a tournament colliding with the Olympics, so that means he can go in. (Also means Germany have too many qualified players and so Frank Dancevic goes through.) Don't understand why the ITF could overrule the German national olympic committee's selections in the first place. It's not like the ATP rankings are perfect, and Germany had earned the place. |

Murray @ $10 isn't horrible. Probably means more to him than the big three too.

Haha the poll on the ITF website has four choices to win gold, Nadal, Federer, Djokovic and Massu lol. Think he might be slightly out of his league there.
Edit: Draw is released tomorrow afternoon |
