A movie with Cricket in it

I have only heard of it, not seen this movie. I believe it's name is "Lagaan" and have heard praises for it. If anyone has seen it than please post here.

This probably belongs in OT, but yeah the movie is "Lagaan" and is a great film. Was even nominated for Oscars for Best Foreign Language category.

Sorry, suppose what made me do it was how Sanz's was behaving.

Lagaan is a good watch. Great cinematography and fantastic colour work. The plot is cliche ridden (evil English 'leader', downtrodden surpressed masses overcome said 'leader', the hero rights the wrongs of india at the same time by playing the 'untouchable' Kachra in the team). The cricket match at the end, although played over two days has more than a touch of farce alongside it (every time he releases the ball, he grunts).

The film is tremendously overlong as well - a good hour or so could probably be trimmed out of it without detracting from the plot (although you'd probably be cutting most of the Bollywood spectacle out of the film).

It didn't deserve to win the Oscar for best foreign language film, but was a worthy nominee and frankly should have been in the mainstream Oscar category for Cinematography as the camera work was exceptional.

Oh, and its certainly a better cricket film than the even more cliched but also bland, "Wonderous Oblivion". Dreadful.
