    Tourist in SW England

I'm planning to go to England in the last week of June - particularly to Exeter in Devon (as some of you might know) for a couple of days. Thus I'd like some ideas for what to do in Devon, Somerset, Cornwall, or anything within driving distance of Exeter, for a kind of relaxing day. Pictures would also be nice.

My "hood" is on the edge of the Exmoor area, which is in Somerset... Its about 50-100km north of Exeter.. Great place to get away from it all.. Riding/Hiking.. The hills go right down to the sea and its IMO one of the most beautiful places in England... The photos are the Porlock/Minehead area if you want to do a search..
The beaches up here are pebble, if you are looking for a proper beach, and the weather is good, then its best to drive down the peninsula to Cornwall.. I can recommend the following places..

    1/ Newquay
2/ Padstow (no beach, just fishing)
    3/Polzeath (mainly beach)

There are no sizeable cities in the area.. I would steer clear of Bristol and give Bath a visit.. It is a Roman town in a really deep valley.. All the buildings are very old, and any new development has to fit in with the old character.. The roman baths and cathedral are worth a visit.. As is the rugby club, if you are into that kind of thing...
