What if UKIP wipe the floor? (They wont, but I hope they do)
Doesnt that kind of defeat the object of them having representatives in Europe??

Well, I thought long and hard about the UKIP, and why Robert Kilroy-Hypocrite might possibly put up as a candidate for them - in our constituency too.

Then I realised that membership of the European parliament pays a salary of 150 grand a year.

Didn't take much working out once I'd made that first connection.

Spending on the EU constituted 1.4% of the GDP of the EU-15 last year.

Do you object to local councillors being paid expenses? Or county councillors? Or your MP being paid a salary? Or our representatives at the UN?

I'm a passionate pro-European - in fact, I'd go much, much further by making the United Nations a 'world government', but I reckon I'd have to live until I'm aged about 350 before that comes to fruition - and then only after there's been a world war over the last 3 pints of oil.

I don't begrudge the money going to the EU, neither do I begrudge politicians to whatever parliament being paid the equivalent of company directors etc.

I do object though to people campaigning purely on the ticket of destroying the organisation they are trying to become part of - unless, of course, they give the 'salary' to charity.

Robert Kilroy-Hypocrite's wife to change her name to 'charity' in 5....4....3....

Edit: Got his namee wrong, of course. It's Robert Kilroy-Slick

You are entitled to vote for whoever you like, and you won't find me criticising you for exercising your right.

I have been disenfranchised. There is no Monster Raving Loony candidate standing in the East Midlands.
