It probably does tbf, but it is also applicable to most things in life.

So many times I have allowed myself to slip into a mindset along the lines of "It's not a great time to do X right now, but once I have done Y everything will be much better and I will do X then", only to then later realise that this is a very artificial way of thinking about things.

But yet, in reality, life doesn't really work like that at all. Doubtless some people will be more ready than others, and some times will be more suitable than others, but if you're going to wait for a time of perfect readiness you will be waiting forever. Just got to take the plunge and ride the waves with some things, I guess.
Great post, but this reads like one of those tumblr reposts on fb

The financial argument is real but it's also mostly bogus.

When you have kids you basically lose your social life which means you don't spend much there. Also, babies are cheap, at least if you don't factor in lost wages or day care.

The hardest thing is the constant need for care. Forgetting to pick up the milk becomes a major logistical ordeal when children are young. It also means that the only time you and your partner are alone and without responsibility is when the little tyke is asleep, at which point you're probably making love to keep each other sane or sleeping to keep yourself sane.

For couples who are used to socialising together, having a baby is very hard on you because from that point on you need a babysitter to do anything at all alone together.

Is it worth it? Yeah it really is. But that's the problem with Stockholm syndrome isn't it? Your captors torment you and drive you crazy but you love them even though it makes no sense.

As for the climate change argument, either the whole human race is doomed or perhaps we'll escape it. If the first is the case, having kids doesn't matter. If the second is the case then there's a chance they'll be part of the solution and even if they're not, they will be part of the future of the species. Without going all denialist, making life decisions of that magnitude on something you have no control over feels foolish to me. Might as well decide not to have children because they can't be president of the US.

Anyway how would people know you've ever been laid if you don't have kids?

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

They're hard work, mentally destructive and costly. Fully recommend.
