Actually, I think the opposite may be closer to the truth. You might be confusing microwaved foods with pre-packaged foods designed to be microwaved i.e. the TV dinners.

Microwaving as a method of cooking tends to preserve a bit more of the micronutrients than most other methods. In general it is one of the healthiest methods of cooking along with steaming.

Of course, the actual food tends to matter more than the method.

It's comical how some people still think microwaves are somehow harmful to your health. One thing to avoid though is what my neighbour did. She had a doughnut that had gone a bit stale and decided to put in the microwave for 30 seconds to freshen it up. A good way to fill your house with black smoke.

Hahaha yes, not for many years now sadly. Though perhaps it is for the best really.

For beverages, largely used to warm up the filter coffee that has gone cold, else occasional cup of black tea. Mug, teabag, water, 2 min some stewing and hey presto...

Also good for 2-minute noodles.... (which is more like 5 minute noodles!)

Always use it to heat the leftover rice.

Use it a lot to hear refrigerated food. Very hard to get by without it for me.
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Only if you microwave in plastic all the time. And I mean, like, all the time.

haven't had a microwave in over a year. an old flatmate buggered off with it and we just never bothered to replace it. don't miss it often tbh, but when i do, it hurts so bad.

My eldest was late for school because his shorts were only just taken off the clothesline and still a little damp. Microwaves certainly dry them out adequately.

TBF my microwave gets used for beans and rice. I've never got on board with doing beans in a saucepan when it takes 2 mins in the microwave and its easier to wash the tupperware (always keep an old chinese takeaway tub specifically for beans as it stains after one use but)

I'm so lazy with rice though, because I don't eat it often enough to buy a bag of it, and the Uncle Bens stuff is usually a quid a bag (or 3 for £2 in home bargains), I'll just use them, especially the mexican style flavour. Half of one of them for 2 mins whilst I cook the rest and i'm laughing, lazy eating at its finest (not a high bar admittedly)
