    SH Christmas vs NH Christmas

in the spirit of the festive season, here is a thread for us all to compare the christmasii of the north and the south and agree that the southern hemisphere christmas is best christmas

sun, roast, eating outside, temperatures conducive to human life, pavolva. before some northern barbarian starts banging on about snow, the only white christmas worth having is a white chistmas in the bedroom. that's why santa has a sleigh to deliver his gifts not a snowmobile or a shovel.

I love a decent irrelevant option. That southern hemisphere one's hilarious.

SH Christmas is glorious because it also accompanies the summer break. Almost everyone is off work forever. You can have your big Christmas lunch, a boozy nap in the afternoon and then have a cheeky BBQ in the evening. Boxing day is the beach, the cricket, the movies, the races, or shopping.

No ****** cold weather you need to make songs about to feel special. Long warm days.

Christmas? More like Boxing Day Test eve as far as I'm concerned

It's a tough one. Watching cricket in the air conditioning on boxing day with my stepdad is on of the year's highlights. At the same time summer is literal hell and the regular process of getting from the air conditioned car to whatever air conditioned dwelling I'm going to is a process that has to happen more often than it otherwise would, due to the festive season existing in summer.

I just associate Christmas with snow, mistletoe, ''wintry food'' and wintry drinks like mulled wine. I couldn't for the life of me imagine Santa in speedos.

Over here, we have reggae Christmas carols: "A rich man me want for Christmas."

Santa comes in on a Donkey-Cart, with gifts in jute bags.

When Bing sung ''White Christmas'' he wasn't alluding to all the zinc needed to be applied. Christmas on a beach just wouldn't be Christmas. Christmas is about sleighs, Reindeer and warm inviting houses shielding you from the elements. It is about ''Christmassy scenes'', little houses with thatched roofs covered with snow, snow ball fights, kids building snowmen. And as I said, Wintry food and drink like big roast dinners, mulled wine, ''chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire''.
