Greek immigrants have been propping up Australian sport for 20 years. This is especially evident in Australia's sporting, cultural, economic and educational capitol, Melbourne.
I highly doubt the Greeks have done anything for the economy.

    Evidence?

Australia's a celebrated multicultural country. It's one of the reasons we are pound for pound such a far superior sporting nation (and nation in general) to England

you punch above your weight. However by concentrating on a sport that no-one else plays and one that resembles vultures pulling apart a gazelle carcass you are holding back from your true international sporting potential.

Australian Rules Football is to Australia what the nuclear arms program is to Iran. Both are steeped in nationalistic fervor, have unrealistic expansionist goals and are held in contempt by the international community.

You blew a perfect chance for a witty Holocaust reference and you instead go for the boogeyman. Sad.

Anyway, Stoinis is a stop-gap measure nothing more, filling the void with his pound of flesh until someone good or in form comes along. Nothing, meaningless, forget him.

So that is what these horrible guys were trying to play against France the other day. Not only is it unspeakably ugly, it just doesn't work.
They must have realised that by now. Watch Mexico and try to learn from them!

When's India's next game at the World Cup? Or in any sport that isn't cricket?

Believe it or not, India actually qualified for the soccer world cup in 1950, but didn't go. They thought the Olympics were the pinnacle and the Soccer World Cup (then in the pre-live television era it was not a financial success or a big deal) wasn't worth the cost.

They qualified by default: because all the other teams in their qualification group pulled out.

Yeah - the World Cup back then was far less meaningful as it was the pre -tv era.

But you're only supporting JediBrah's comment here. Don't say I didn't warn you about glass houses. :P

No matter what you try to say, Australians swim really well, and have had some tennis superstars, besides their rugby, rugby league, cricket, sailors, cyclists and everything else.

Facts are facts. There is no running away from them.

Australia made a sorry spectacle, playing like a bunch of yellow cowards. India were simply not good enough to to play at all.

Australia are like the 40th best soccer team if that, France are generally Top 5. You'd expect to lose that game 4-0, rather than be unlucky to not at least draw.
