Are they really that good though? A look at the list makes me ask where is St Andrews? Also other less trendy/marketed ones like Loughborough and Lancaster place really high but aren't there. Also does anyone really rate Cardiff, Liverpool and some of the other lower ranked ones there? (Hell, even Manchester, 2 top class uni's merged into one awful finance draining pit of rubbish)

And why only one of them?

Idk, it just strikes me as really hard to score an E if you just simply try.

Do you encounter several kids form whom their best attempts at GCSE maths would result in an E?
I encounter kids whose best attempt results in something approaching any sort of grade at all.

It's not about neglecting the exam. It's neglecting this area of thought for the decade prior to the exam.

It's supposedly about the quality of academics working there and the research they undertake, which isn't really the same as the being the best for students, but of course for a lot of people Russel group = better, and so the RG likes to enjoy that rep, deserved or otherwise.

It's also got elements of the old boys' club about it.

    Careful now.

The branding does hold a little bit of weight with employers. Our marketing department really rips the arse out of it.

    Still yet to ask nicely

Or tell us what you intend on studying, which is hugely important when deciding a uni.

Dude do some research ffs. It's going to determine your future.

Pretty sure for the vast majority of undergraduate applications you have to apply through UCAS. The deadline is in Jan.

There are tons of blogs/websites/guides out there that will help you immensely more than asking contextless questions on cricketweb.

Pretty sure the bloke is just trolling, it's not like he can't ask literally any teacher this stuff at his college (and would have done by now if he wants to start in 2018).
