    Yeah probably the wrong example but I'm sure there are tons of weird sports like Wife Carrying or Toe Wrestling that you'd not want to make your profession.

    I mean I can see the irony of me saying this on a cricket forum, but gee being a professional sports person (and then subsequently commentator...) would really bore me, I think.

    I'd like the money and actually playing the sport, for sure. I'd just want to do something a little more intellectually stimulating.

    Oh you're thinking of a case where someone is a professional athlete but still needs a second job to pay the bills?

    I'm pretty sure your career isn't 'professional athlete' then. Your career is whatever you're doing on the side while you pursue the athlete thing as a hobby. It's like those waitresses who claim they are 'professional actors'.

    If I'm calling myself a professional athlete you best believe that's all I need to do to pay my bills.
