    GIMH's Lounge

This is where we talk about Guinness, England and Flintoff. Will hopefully be better than Lord's Lounge.

    What's everyone's Guinness ritual?

A couple of years ago I actually had to tell someone on CricSim that you couldn't just buy a Guinness, open the can and chuggalug without copping all the sediment at once. Kids these days.

I don't often drink it at home nowadays. Prefer the variation I can get with ales. Drink Guinness in the boozer.

The only time it's acceptable straight from the can though is if you're travelling, like to an away game or something. But even then it smacks of poor preparation.

Any barman or woman who pours it in one go should be fired on the spot.

And don't get me started on those surger things. Worse than using percentage of shots taken as a measure of whether a manager is doing a good job or not

When I met him at the cricket we bonded over our shared dissatisfaction with the Guinness-pouring abilities of the pop-up bar staff. Didn't stop either of us from drinking an unconscionable amount of the stuff, though.

If someone uses the drip to paint a shamrock into the foam, you're allowed to stab them in the eye with a fork

Best rum I ever drunk was in St. Lucia .
Best Guinness poured was in Dublin.. Barman took his time..tasted amazing...no stupid imprints either...
I have never drunk it from a can and never will. Couldn't bring myself to do such.

That card probably holds more football knowledge than the real deal.

Guinness from a can is just wrong. Got to be poured right, it can't be from a can. Can accept a bottle, in the same way Newcy Brown works from a bottle, but tap is just the best way.

Have been advised by a couple who winter in the Caribbean every year that Appletons is the finest rum around. Not had the joy of experiencing yet, so need someone to comfirm/deny

Tbf bottled Guinness is a completely different kettle fish. (Can also get the same variant in cans)

A bottle of Guinness was the first alcoholic drink of my own I was ever allowed to have - typical 11 year old sat there sipping it pretending I was enjoying it whilst thinking how disgusting it tasted - and then my Mum got home - the old man and my uncle got a fearful bollocking
