Yeah my dentist said brushing after eating is fine, but you should wait for a bit before you do.

Have recently made the upgrade from a standard brush to an electric one, seems to be doing the job so far. Hopefully will keep my record of never having any fillings intact for a while longer.

Anyway, on to more pressing business. Is it just me, or is it really odd when people brush their teeth before breakfast, and then go and eat straight after? From what I can see this is nonsense on at least two levels. Firstly, there is no point cleaning your teeth just to get them covered in food again a moment or two later. Surely it would be more sensible to just brush them afterwards. Secondly, if you wake up and brush your teeth before breakfast, your breakfast will just taste like toothpaste/taste generally dire. Why would you do this?
Have decided that this was a poor decision. Back to the manual version.

Listerine though, that stuff is great.

Have just made a change to an electric toothbrush. Why do you feel it was a poor decision?

Also, on the point of brushing after a meal, there should be a waiting period of at least half an hour before one does so. Otherwise it harms the enamel protection on the teeth, from what I've been told.

This reminds of me the time I used to eat paste as a kid. Not in a stupid kids do dumb things way either. We used to buy this delicious paste that was really red and good looking. Might be my memory but it was very tasty as well. Close up I think. Good times.

Once, as a child, I spread toothpaste on bread and eat it.

There are worse and more devastating ways to waste toothpaste than simply eating it.

Yeah, it looked and smelled good. No one was home at the time. I was hungry. It's a memory of my childhood that will stick with me.

On topic I've heard that not rinsing after you've brushed will improve the whiteness of your teeth. I've never tried it though because it feels very uncomfortable.

Just use an OTC whitener that has peroxide. There are non peroxide ones out there that use abrasives, iirc it's best to avoid them.

Oh I am not talking about specifically whitening them. Its just that I've heard the habit of not rinsing after you've brushed is better for your teeth.
