    Nepal Earthquake

Nepal earthquake: More than 100 dead, many injured - BBC News

The quake measured 7.9 and struck an area between the capital Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara, the US Geological Survey said.

Tremors were felt across the region, as far afield as Pakistan, Bangladesh and neighbouring India.

A Nepali minister said there had been "massive damage" at the epicentre.
    estimated 565 already dead

It originated in Nepal, a 7.9 (or maybe even 8.1 according to one source) on the Richter scale. We felt the tremors in India too, along the northern belt. Lasted up to at least 30 seconds, probably more. Not that destructive in India, however. Kathmandu has been hit hard. Heritage sites such as Dharahara Tower and Darbar Square have collapsed.

My family felt the tremors all the way up in Jaipur.

Shot a msg to my friend in Nepal to ask him if things are alright. Haven't heard back. Kinda worried. :/

And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Yeah one of my seniors in NS was a bit higher up there. He said lots of climbers and Sherpas are missing. Terrible tragedy and the death toll just keeps getting worse.

Talked to my friend in Nepal.

He said people slept in the cars last night due to fears of aftershocks. He and his family are fine, but the rural areas where the poorer people live have been wrecked. Those areas weren't built to withstand earthquakes.

Electricity is down, cell phone coverage is down in most places. Lots of causalities.

    :/

We'll know the severity of the damage in a few days. Tremors were felt again today in Jaipur too.

My friend says they are expecting another, stronger, hit tonight.

He says things are bad now. Everyone is sleeping outside tonight as well. If the earthquakes keep up for another 2 days, their will be a national crisis. Food and water shortages.

:/ Nature is so horrifying at times. Can't imagine what it must be like to be stuck in a natural disaster such as this.

    Anyways, FWIW:
