    Lee Kuan Yew RIP :(

Singapore's first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew dead - World - DAWN.COM

Arguably the greatest Asian figure of the 20th century departs. RIP

    What a legend
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Lived in Singapore as an ex pat for 3 years growing up. I believe at the time he was still an adviser to the government.

What an incredible mind. A visionary for sure.

YouTuber Amos Yee charged, bail set at S$20,000 - Channel NewsAsia

What a dumb ****. While I abhor this kid's blatant disrespect and utter tactlessness, the general public's response has been pretty disturbing, with most wanting him to face much more severe consequences. Firstly, he's a kid and kids have the propensity to say the dumbest ****. Secondly, such a move ironically reinforces some of his statements or half-truths regarding the state of oppression in Singapore.

I really hope that we as a society have matured past that era and can react to his 'misdemeanour' with a commensurate level of maturity. Ultimately, his injured reputation, which entails enduring repercussions, serves as a hefty enough punishment in itself.

Our society isn't balanced on a knife's edge anymore as it was in the past and it really doesn't make any sense now to be so harsh with regards to sedition.

Singapore isn't in a hurry to embrace democracy. To be fair it doesn't seem like they are really in need of it.

On Tuesday, Mr Yee appeared in court to be charged on three counts: "deliberate intention of wounding the religious or racial feelings of any person", distributing obscene material and harassment.

He faces a fine and up to three years in jail if convicted.

Kind of ridiculous and ironic considering Lee's infamous "White trash of Asia" comment. I thought the video was thoroughly enjoyable and nothing less than any dead politician deserves.

Didn't that comment help Australia leaders reform their policies eventually?
