Don't be jealous of the Georgie Pie super smash

    'tis the season

Got off Work on Friday. Played cricket on Saturday. Crashed on Sunday. Went to an evening Christmas service last night. Have purchased all the presents. A bit nervous that I spent more on my 11 year old nephew than my 6 year old niece. Hopefully there are no tears of disappointment as there have been in previous years.

Have two different celebrations this year. One on Christmas Eve with my sister's family and one on the day itself with other family members.

As always I have promised myself I will eat and drink in moderation but realistically I will be lucky to not put on 3-4 kgs as per usual. Which reminds me I must pop into the liquor store tomorrow for some Christmas gin. (If I buy anything indulgent at this time of year I put the word Christmas in front of it to legitimise it).

How about you chaps...(do we have any female members left since tricia and 4or6) Are you going away or staying at home, and what are your plans for the day itself. Christmas shopping done etc...

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

    Deep, deep south
Working all through the holiday period other than Christmas Day and a couple of other random days. My family is scattered around the North Island (and Sydney although my Sydney-based sister is spending this Xmas in Finland with her old host family). Staying for a month at my friends' place and they are away on Christmas day. So our other friends are coming down the road and we will just eat and get boozed.

Came back to proper home yesterday afternoon. The next few days will be spent eating, drinking, watching sport on TV and sleeping. Best time of year for any of the aforementioned.

I remember, as a kid, we never celebrated Christmas, but thanks to television and books, it was a time of the year which got me a little happy and excited. A Christian friend in school used to get me a piece of cake from home, and us cousins used to watch movies like Miracle on 34th Street, It's a Wonderful Life, and Frosty The Snowman, which my father had on video tape.

When I grew up, I had a few special Christmas eve dinners with special friends. And then it got away from me for a little bit. Around three years back, I made a decision to do something about it, and have since have been to an orphanage and had a very special Christmas show at Windamere, Darjeeling.

This year, I am planning to go up to meet a very old friend.

    Season's Greetings

I'm going to wrap presents and wash dishes at the local old age home.

Only joking. I'm going to eat ice-cream and watch porn.

Christmas shopping all bought, for once. Just wrapping the stuff now.

Plan here is for me to spend it in Manchester with my dad as usual (my mum lives us in Morecambe, as does my sister, so she goes round to hers for the day every year, and I deal with the old man). It'll be the usual in the pub for 12, then at the restaurant for 4 to eat. After that we'll visit a couple of relatives in the area before heading to a 'staff' lock in at the pub about 9 (the idea being all the staff go round to have our sort of Christmas party that night, but half of us have left years before and still go, and a few choice customers like my dad get an invite too).

I won't actually drink at all on Christmas day, as I get a bit ****ed at the idea that I must be seen drinking to be having a good time - my family are rather heavy drinkers and I find myself shunning it a fair bit because of this - funnily enough its a trait I've noticed in a couple of my younger cousins too. Also it means I can drive and make sure everyone gets home safe later on and don't have to fork out for a taxi.

On the Saturday I'll head up to visit my mum and sister, take the presents to my nephews. Probably coming back on Monday

Probably spend Christmas Eve in my friends local, a good crowd of us will be in, then NYE in the pub I worked in as its opposite my dads so stumbling to his couch will be easy

I'll probably take it easy on the booze on Xmas day as well this year, driving Boxing Day and if there's a day of the year you don't risk driving hungover then that's it

It's gonna be pretty busy for me! Working most of the time, and trying to fit in all the family and friends stuff where possible.

It's my first Christmas as an uncle, with my wee nephew Liam being born in June, so that makes it a bit more exciting. My girlfriend's younger brother is over from Aussie and staying with us as well, and I need to have a beer or two with one of my best mates who works in East Timor and is just back for a couple of weeks. Think he wants to do some boozy karaoke at some stage.
