    Interviews with esteemed CW members

Posted by Jan as something that annoyed him
Lack of interviews with esteemed CW members.
Be careful what wish for Jan. Coming soon to a thread near you are some short interviews with some of CW's elite (trademark Adders).

In this thread I will be interviewing some of CW's finest posters.

A note to the interviewees please read this opening post before responding:

    1) One or two of the questions will be ireverant - roll with the punches
    2) One or two will require you to reveal something about yourself
    3) Try to be candid.

Our first guest is Howe - your questions are:

    Questions for Howe
    1) Best thing about Thatcher’s Britain
    2) Tendulkar or Bradman
    3) What is one strength and one weakness of CW
    4) “Blessed be the peace keepers” What is a maxim you live your life by Howe?
    5) Have you ever been in a school yard fight and who was it with?
    6) Have you ever lived in an apartment that is the "top floor bottom buzzer"?
    7) Funniest poster on CW in your opinion?
    8) A favourite memory on CW?
    9) How tall are you and has this ever caused any dating issues?
    10) DingDong - Messiah or Wannabe Pariah?

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

Not that I would consider myself in the elite of CW, but I have some pretty interesting answers for some of those questions haha.

    1) Best thing about Thatcher’s Britain

My time during Thatcher's Britain would have been being born with significant medical issues, followed by the first six months of my life. As such the best thing about Thatcher's Britain for me would have been either nipples or being inexplicably kept going by drugs I didn't understand. In that sense my experience of the era was much the same as fredfertang's.

    2) Tendulkar or Bradman

The question is vague. It could be about who was better at winning matches, or who had the best batting skill in absolute terms. Is it who was more ahead of their time? Best to watch? Assuming the question is asking which of them I'd shag and which I'd marry, the answer is to marry Sachin. I feel his round face would be more of a comfort to wake up to.

    3) What is one strength and one weakness of CW

You can spend all day happily chatting on CW with people you haven't and almost certainly will never meet.

    4) “Blessed be the peace keepers” What is a maxim you live your life by Howe?

    Blessed be the cheese makers.

    5) Have you ever been in a school yard fight and who was it with?

There was an incident in year 8 when a boy I went to school with, Jasraj, took it upon himself to give me grief whenever the opportunity presented itself. As we were in a fairly small middle school together the opportunity presented itself damn near constantly. A day came where I was so completely sick of the sight of him I let myself be goaded into challenging him to a fight. Having had no experience whatsoever at this sort of thing I opted to set the challenge as being in a particular place on the playground after school in what must have sounded like a page lifted directly out of the Beano. Come fight time quite a few people had heard the rumour and so a significant crowd had amassed by the time I got there. Jasraj and I both took to the impromptu arena and though our 13 year old egos would never admit it, it quickly became clear that neither of us had any desire to actually fight and both of us had assumed the other would never show up. This was clear from the lack of action taken after the event had begun, and for a few minutes we just sort of stared at each other and looked a bit confused. There may have been some pushing. The crowd began to grow restless, and by the time the staff arrived to break up what must have looked like something significant from the outside at least one of the fans had given me a frustrated kick. I was later placed on report by the head of year, the charge for which I can only assume was trolling the students.

To this day I've never punched another human and in hindsight I'm quite sincerely proud of that fact.

    6) Have you ever lived in an apartment that is the "top floor bottom buzzer"?

No (the location is a reference to a Morphine song) but I have lived in a flat that used, in lieu of a working buzzer, a complex lever and pulley system that used the cry of a live cockatiel as its primary arrival warning system.

    7) Funniest poster on CW in your opinion?

Athlai improves every thread he posts in.

    8) A favourite memory on CW?

Unfortunately unlike most posters I have no infractions, and so can't pick out what are my best posts from a handy list. Two close calls that immediately spring to mind are a cheeky impression and an innocent observation about bowling.

    9) How tall are you and has this ever caused any dating issues?

197cm which is 6'5 in old money. My dating issues are numerous but height has never been one of them.

    10) DingDong - Messiah or Wannabe Pariah?

I think Ding Dong is one of the best assets CW has but the last thing we should do is respect him for it. The cock.
Hurricane, BeeGee, Maximas and 9 others like this.

It's a bit like the league cup - yes you can say it's only the best, but it's only ever going to be the people you can get to show up.

Cheers Howe those answers were brilliant. Some genuine LOLs in there.

In answer to GIMH's query Howe basically answered the question. I will just add that the people who will be participating are experienced members who volunteered. Most of them have done solidly in a BOTM comp at some stage however.

Cool. If you want to post some of your answers to those questions. That would be awesome and very entertaining.

Alternatively if you DCYE or anyone with more than 1000 posts (my definition of an experienced member) wants to be interviewed just volunteer in this thread and after I have gotten through the first set of volunteers you will be up.

For readers of this thread if you like it don't be shy about using the like button or giving feedback just so I can see whether it is on the right track. The intention of it is that you get to know some of the experienced posters you interact with a bit better.

    Thanks

    Hurricane

I think you need more questions. I feel that you've hardly scratched the surface of what Howe has to offer with only 10 questions. We want more!

No. No one can agree on times. I was planning on just giving a time and see who showed up.
