I suck.

Okay,I think this should go in the humour forum, but anyway:

Ok,I play for Suburbs new lynn, and I am 13 yrs old.I only started cricket when I was 11,and i am the only member in my family who likes cricket except my grandad who bought the farm in 1996.So,My friend plays a bit of cricket.I havnt scored a single run last season and I got 9 runs the previous season. Before that I didn't play for any teams, but I played indoor cricket at a place called planet sports.

So,I SUCK at batting.I usually get bowled, cos I don't block,I try to drive ( :/ )So I think my bat may be a bit too heavy (im a weak fella)and i aint getting my bat down quick enough.

When I bowl my medium pace,I am a run constrictor, not a wicket taker, but I get wickets every now and then, and im pleased with that.

Im striving to be a batting all rounder. My friend doesn't like cricket much but he bowls to me and I bowl to him.

I suspect my bat might be too heavy and I aint getting it down quick enough.

So should I give up? I REALLY like cricket and I have gotten better since I started.

Of course not. Just because you think you're nto as good as otehrs at it is no reason to give up. If you like playing it, keep playing it. Odds are you'll get better anyway.

NEVER!!! Don't even think about quitting cricket!!!! :O

It doesn't matter if you're not as good as you would like to be. Practice most definitely makes you better. And if you're getting enjoyment from it then why stop?

Believe me, I'm having THE suckiest run of form ever. I'm a batsman who has only got into double figures three times in the last 3 seasons. I'm been playing for over 10 years. Doesn't matter if I play badly (though it is nice to do well every now and then ) because I generally enjoy playing.

NEVER give up! Practice practice practice, and talk to cricket guys who will give you the time to chat to them.... again and again..

And remember, there will always be someone worse than you

Never give up, mate!

Your batting story sounds very much like mine. Been playing since I was 4 (admittedly not at any level) and matches since I was 11. I'm now 18. My career average stands at a mighty 2.36 and my Highest Score is 6*.

You have to find out which shots you are suited to and try and focus on them one at a time, just blocking all the others - and everyone can have their day - I've been in a couple of long-ish partnerships (and even hit (edged) the winning runs in a house match). Try and work on a shot one at a time - either watch videos of Test players in action or a coach at your club (if you're not at one - join one!) - getting your feet in the right place is important if you don't have a great eye for the ball.

You're still 13. I've known batsman to be woeful at that age and with application progress to make their way into the top order - and even captain - by the older age groups, with application and commitment.

Keep us posted, and Good Luck!

Four practice nets is as many as any ground in North Lincolnshire - even Cleethorpes - which has hosted the Sri Lankan tourists twice.

How many practices/coaches are there?

Ask around at your club - there ought to be someone there who can help.
