    Arise Sir Clive

Yep Clive Woodward will be knighted, all the members of the English rugby team will be getting a MBE, Jonny will be getting a OBE along with his MBE, while Martin Johnson will be getting a CBE.
Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. Lick once and you suck forever...

See Clive Woodward coached England to its first major sporting victory since England won the 1966 Soccer (Football) World Cup.

So Woodward being knighted is a great way of appreciating what he did for not only English Rugby, but for sport in England as well.

I read in today's paper that they believe every member of the England rugby team should be knighted.

Sir Josh Lewsy or Sir Doren West

    Utter bandwagon jumping rubbish.

Sooner the honours system goes the better.

I can just about see the cases for honours for Woodward, Wilkinson and Johnson (maybe Leonard) but that is a favour-currying exercise in popularity contesting.

And Tim Henman's? I thought you needed to be good to win them.

Erm, Henman has consistently been one of the top 10 tennis players in the world over the last 5 or so years.

I still don't see why he deserves the honour. Mark Alleyne, however, totally merits it.

One of our countries few world class sportsmen (for me can only be bracketed with Beckham, Owen, Wilkinson and Johnson) and a very good ambassador for the country / sport.

Perhaps his upbringing clouds your judgement?

David Humphries is getting an MBE apprantly, but last time I checked he's Irish and I thought Ireland had nothing to do with England.

    Maybe I am wrong.

I guess he must be from Northern Ireland in that case.

Several ATP tournaments - had some big scalps as well - he's one of the more consistent players in the World.

The one thing about the honours which has always peeved me is the fact that Brian Clough, the greatest manager in the history of English football, has still never been knighted for services to football.

Sure, Ferguson has 'won' more titles, but consider this - both Derby and (it pains me to even type it) Nottingham Forest are 'tiny' clubs in comparison to Manure yet Cloughie took both to league titles in the days when it wasn't possible to buy the championship with foreign imports - and he did it on a shoestring - and Forest won the European Cup twice too.
