    Home brewing

Has anyone had any experience with home brewing, and does anyone have any hints or tips?

I'm not as interested in brewing normal beer, but I'm keen to have a go at alcoholic ginger beer and apple/pear ciders.

Bloody tricky, and I was never consistently successful, and in fact was generally disappointed with the results (although I do recall one splendid batch of bitter)

I think the key to success is getting the temperature right in the first place, and the more so then keeping it constant

If you want a normandy style cidre keeving is a non-trival matter. I looked in this a while ago... Wasn't worth it for that.

Tried it in uni. Was actually relatively alright considering we only paid pittance for the whole brewing kit. You get what you deserve etc...

Don't know much about it myself, but the best beer I ever had was home brew. Good luck.
