    Epics from around the World

This thread is to list the different Epics from various places and those that people have read.

    The ones I know about:

    The Iliad - Ancient Greece
The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms - Han China
    Babarnama - Mughal India
    Dastan-e-Amir Hamza - Mughal India
    Shahnama - Central Asia/Iran
    The Odyssey - Ancient Greece

The epic I have read is Dastan-e-Amir Hamza (The legend/tale of Amir Hazma). I originally read it in Urdu but have recently come to know that an English translation has been written by Musharraf Ali Farooqi. It's a fantastic tale about the uncle of the Prophet Muhammad and his adventures across the globe.

Never in a million years would I have thought Brumby to admit this!!!!!!

You seem to have a very loose definition of epic.

Athlai doesn't lie. And he doesn't do sarcasm either, so you know it's true!

The only one that is different is the Baburnama which is actually an autobiography.

And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

I must say that dastan e amir hamza was so awesome in Urdu and then the adventures of Umru Ayyar were legendary as well. Harry Potter before Harry Potter I should say. Are you sure these books were written during Mughal India?
