    Monthly Expenses

My monthly grocery expense is quite high and I want to cut down. How do others manage? Any ideas would be welcome.

It's absolutely impossible to begin to help you until you give us an idea of what you consider "quite high".

Alternatively you could just stop eating, however that would be a bit counter productive as you'd have to spend the money saved on new clothes.

I found a good way to do this was to pack my sons off to Uni - they are back next week, so my food spend will triple and my house will look like a shebeen again for three months - yet I miss the little ****ers when they're away - 'tis weird being a parent

Dumpster diving if you aren't picky on food quality.

But seriously, look for specials and buy homebrand or cheaper brands and if they taste fine continue with them, you don't eat the fancy packaging.

Plan your meals a week in advance. Order online to reduce temptation of deals. Make meals you can freeze parts of for re-use in future weeks.

    Ha ha

My son is 7 and I reckon his food intake doubles monthly whilst his ability to throw to strew **** around the house is increasing at a similar rate

Honestly, don't think about it. The money you save isn't worth the time or effort you spend worrying.

This, or if you do shop yourself then only go once or twice a week (2nd time just for the bread/milk etc) and don't go every day.
