As my profile says, I'm an aerospace engineer/student. This is a huge thing around the world today.
Some of the things going on Strictly speaking, people should be saying that it is the centenary year of mechanised flight as a Yorkshireman by the name of Sir George Cayley had the first manned flight a full 60 years before the Wright brothers lifted off. It was however just a glider containing a small boy (son of a servant) and the first adult flight was a man (the servant) who flew 250m in a glider in 1853. It is indeed a rather large contribution but I sometimes wonder how many Americans know that people could fly before the Wright brothers.
