Does get the old "Hmm...ometer" twitching, eh?

Bloke with no legs, lives in a gated community with a security guard who requires all vistors to sign in, hears a noise, has time to find his prosthetics, grab a gun, load it/take the safety off and fire four shots before his beloved can say "Hi honey, I'm home!"

Four rounds shows great restraint then, really. At 600rpm he'd have pressed the trigger for less than half a second.

Bail opposed. Allegations of shouting and yelling before shots fired, and previous domestic incidents as well.

Look, it's crass to say, but he's hardly a flight risk if they take away the blades, is he?

South African law doesn't appear to have things like manslaughter. Only 'culpable homicide' (which implies negligence but not intent).

Also, 'intent exists where the accused does not "mean" for the unlawful act to happen, but foresees the possibility that it could happen, and proceeds with his conduct anyway.'
