I'm not siding either way, I honestly don't give a **** about any of this, but you're all so quick to point the finger definitively but you have no idea what growing up in a crime-riddled country can do your psyche.
Or receiving numerous death threats.
Or suffering from paranoia.
Or having no ****ing legs.

Odd to have a sort of pre-trial over what kind of case you should be granted bail for.

Things not much better here, usually get tossed in protective custody for two months for assault.

Obviously SA is literally a foreign country and, as LP Hartley observes, they do things differently there but I can't recall too many cases of people accused of violent murder being released on bail in the UK.

If he has a case to answer, and the fact that the case is going to trial suggests he does, he's strongly suspected of being a dangerous maniac, so I'm not sure I agree with the magistrate's suggestion he's not a chance of intimidating witnesses.

The judge didn't seem thrilled about it but noted that:

1. South African jails are severely overcrowded so he has no choice but to lower bail requirements
and
2. The prosecution didn't actually make any effort to demonstrate that he might be a threat if released

I'm pretty sure he'd have got bail here too from what I've heard - might have had to surrender his blades though

Dunno what the uproar about him getting bail is, it's not like getting bail means he'll walk.

Stolen.

It's crude, but if you remove his blades he isn't going very far.

Feck me, is there no-one involved in this trial who doesn't stand accused of trying to or successfully murdering someone?
