Most New Zealanders are here, fwiw.

Prez, I think you'll find the attitude to Saffies is pretty well the same everywhere. Make of that what you will

I was going to say Wagner because I know you're a bowler but he played a lot of FC cricket in RSA first so I didn't think the comparison was as valid.

I've never quite known why we're disliked. I've always found us heapps less abrasive than australians, for example. (Not me taking a bash, I've generally found aussies to be very straightforward and outspoken).

I guess the afrikaners are often very blunt, but the english-speakers are generally incredibly placid I'd say.

Crazy to pay a cent as a graduate student (in US, at least). May depend slightly on chosen field.

Looked into doing study in the US. Average fees for 1 semester there is about the same as a 3 year degree here. Crazy.

It's because you can't tell when people are having a lend.....

Nah, my experience in SA was great. People were really friendly. Was some remants of the apartheid era attitudes in some older when I went (was 1995) but for the most part the people were great.

Other than that, my experience is probably clouded by dealing with a lot of white upper class Saffies who live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. That goes back to Uni and continues a fair bit now. Sadly, most of them are ****s. But that's more to do with them being in the eastern suburbs of Sydney than being Saffies, I think.

Oh yeah, I think I actually asked that question here before and got a similar answer. It's fair enough - besides, any rich South African who automatically tried to get away as soon as equality came is probably not the best sort (of course some will be fine and I'm generalising but yeah).
