    Do you carry cash?

I'm of the opinion that all retailers should have some sort of card option. Try not to carry cash wherever possible. Some people find this odd, what do you think?

Her maj doesn't carry readies, does she? Always suspected Corrin was a queen, tbh.

Nah, paying for drinks in a pub with a card? That's just madness, IMHO. Always carry cash, me.

For most non-food/beverage purchases, much rather use card.

Not many places over here where they won't have EFTPOS facilities though.

Yeah boozer is an exception, obviously. Although if on expenses I do set up a tab. But generally that's one time I do get cash, that and going to footy/cricket. What I have leftover from that tends to be all I carry on me through the week though.

But asda and that? Nah way. Bought a pizza for £1.25 last week an paid on card. Self-service checkouts enable you to do these things and not feel like a ****.

Nah, can't purchase anything for less than $20 with card.

Unless you have less than $20 in your account, so you can't actually get cash out.

Done that at the Colonel that many times.

How do they check you have less than 20 on your card?

A lot of places, usually off licences, do a fiver minimum for cards, but if it's self-serve then card is always allowed, unless they have a cash only one (they also usually have card only ones).

Sorry, didn't phrase it well. Saying that I think, when possible, should use cash for anything less than a $20.

Self-serve at the supermarkets hasn't taken off here as much as Britain. There are some around, but not nearly as many. Think that'll be a bit of a cultural change about using cards more often.

    Ah I see.

In Aussie the lowest coin is 5c right? Probably less of a deterrent from using cash. Annoying as **** when you've been out on the lash and drinking something priced 2.37 or whatever and wake up with a ****load of bronze in your pocket.

Ace when you've been paying with notes all day/night and realise you've got a good twenty quid of pound coins in your pocket though.

Yeah, worst thing about England was the 1p and 2p coins. Right crock. Did give me something to sling into those charity boxes where the coins go round and round though.

Five and ten cent pieces are useless enough, dunno how other countries still use pennies etc. Generally pay with cash, even for large purchases sometimes. Apparently this makes me a suspect for terrorism.

The annoying thing about pennies is even of you shove them in a jar all year long you probably only accrue about a tenner, if that. Whereas doing the same with silver quickly accumulates.

God, I think I still have some 1c and 2c coins in a money box around my house somewhere.
