Only in America
Apprantly in the US some woman has been jailed for 10 years because she ran down a McDonald's resturant manager because she went in there wanting a cheese burger but wanted mayonnoaise with it and that resturant didnt serve with cheeseburgers.
So the woman packs a sad and storms out, the manager comes out to apologise and then see gets run over. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/3295965.stm

I'm just surprised that guns were not involved.

Has anyone seen the film bowling for Columbine???
It shocked me, I never knew the USA was like that, what upset me the most was how this pro gun guy didnt apologize for staging a rally in a town right after a six year old had been shot at school there... absolute madness... |

It's a crying shame that the following words seem synonymous with the country.... 1. Iraq 2. Guns 3. Litigation 4. Fat 5. Might Such a change from 1. Freedom 2. Tolerance 3. Rights |

I saw it a couple of months ago - it's the best film I've ever seen.
Backs up so much of the anti-Republican/Right sentiment felt here.

Population counts for a tiny bit.. but...
US: Population: 250m, Gun Killings: 11,000 UK: Population: 60m, Gun Killings: 100 It's all, as the film rightly says, fear. |

Yeah, the bit when he went to Canada was interesting... As a brit, i wouldnt really be able to tell the difference between much of the USA and Canada, but they seem to have completely different attitudes...

When I went to the US and Canada I must say I was so relieved to cross over to the canadian border. It's so much more.... normal...
Americans are a bit OTT (or a lot). Canadians are relaxed. I've seen owling for columbine twice and read half of stupid white men, cant remember why i didnt finish or where i put the book! I imagine I will find the answer to my first question above..

well canadians are relaxed and easy going, and cultured, sure, but for some strange reason their game Hockey is so full of fighting, unlike the other three pro sports more popular in the US. I really dont understand that bit.
And the per capita gun argument is not a good one, as even though the per capita guns in germany japan and the UK is a lot less, and so is the murder rate, Canadian per capita guns are almost at par with the US (if not more), but the murder rate is much much lower than the US. The reason is something else. |
