Should post up all the entrants you receive tbh. Have a "judges prize" but also a community voted winner too.

Post them up anonymously, of course.

Indians can't bowl - Where has the rumour come from as I myself and many indian friends arwe competent fast bowlers ?

With the English bid I said: Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote. They then became sad and left

And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

Sorry for the delay in responding to these questions - I am on holiday and have only had time for quick posts until now.

I don't think we will have any shakespeares in the comp who are inventing new words. I gave this some thought and feel like 5 points is ok for spelling and grammar the other sections are 10 points each. As a compromise I will ask the judges to judge this section leniently so most people should score 4 or 5 if they use spell check. But at the end of the day you deserve to lose a point if you say "he was to fat" instead of "he was too fat". And I don't think compelling style covers this. So that is my decision here (a compromise).

I would like the official judges to do their thing first and for the official results to be announced in a manner where the judges are not impacted by popular opinion. And then after the results announcement and we have posted the top 3 stories (if the judges want to publish 3) a couple of days later we can possibly post all of them and people can judge for themselves whose they thought was best. I say possibly as I would like to do a temperature check later to make sure all peeps are comfortable with having their story published. And yes anonymously would be better.

As a general update a couple of peeps who had existing stories that they had to brush up a bit have already submitted their stories so we are underway. Take your time though contestants.

Mine may have a fair bit of colloquial dialogue in though, it won't work without. Grammar should be fine in the narrative though.

Well if you're depicting a conversation, you should make it realistic - which would include both grammar and word usage as appropriate for the speaker in question. I doubt any points would be taken away for that. I think we were discussing the narration style rather than the character dialogue. It'd be madness to expect all the characters to speak the same "proper" English regardless of their geographic and socioeconomic background. I don't think judges expect that.
