BBC News - Last Pinta giant tortoise Lonesome George dies
I got a look at the big fella when I was in the Galapagos in 2006, so can now claim the rather dubious "honour" of having seen an endling in the flesh.

I saw there is a couple of Giant tortoises who have lived together for about 70 years in a zoo somewhere as a breeding couple and they've had to be separated as they can't stop fighting.
Confirms it happens everywhere in nature.

Lonesome George got plenty of action and no kids iirc. Dude lived a bachelors dream. Failed at reproducing his species but gave it a damn good shot.
