The greatest game ever has to be Metal Gear Solid. Bought a PS2 just for this game and I'm tempted to buy a PS3 for MGS4. Played all the previous games and my favourite from the series is MGS3. The gameplay is amazing, story is gripping, the visuals are stunning and the music is beautiful.

For Football games, it's PES 6 by an absolute mile. Just dug out the PS2 for it tbh.

I remember bits of this game, I must have been about 5 or 6 years old, what is the name of it?

I wasn't into gaming that much when I was younger, mostly because it was banned in my house despite having an Atari. So I snuck out most days to get my ass whupped in the arcade playing Street Fighter II and Brian Lara Cricket. So yeah, I don't have many fond memories of gaming from my childhood unfortunately.
Since I've been into gaming though, I thought the first three installments of Splinter Cell were just plain awesome, and Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood are right there as well. Plus, as sledger mentioned, the Mass Effect series was gun. And there has always been a special place in my heart for the FreeSpace series that was killed prematurely. The original (Descent: FreeSpace) is what got me into gaming. Come to think of it, the concept of Reapers from ME is pretty much taken from FS, except the antagonist race of Shivans was probably less indestructible.

The only correct answer is Super Mario Bros. Without it, none of any of these games would exist in the way they do currently.

Using sledger's idea.
N64: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Mario Kart 64 Banjo Kazooie/Tooie F1 World Grand Prix II Gameboy Advance: Pokemon Emerald Mario Tennis Power Tour Gamecube: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Need for Speed: Most Wanted Animal Crossing PS2: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Burnout 3 FIFA 07 James Bond: Everything or Nothing Xbox 360: Grand Theft Auto IV GTA San Andreas takes the crown for me, I still play it occasionally and it's just as fun as ever. I would highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played through it, or anyone who enjoys spawning a fighter jet and blowing things up (Triangle, Triangle, Square, Circle, X, L1, L1, Down, Up... muscle memory) or jumping off skyscrapers etc
