Handing over the Throne
Questions for the English members:
I was reading today that the Queen may abdicate in a couple of years from now to give Charles a run as King. I was told earlier by someone that she has not done it before now because it is a major issue to abdicate in that all nations of the commonwealth are effected. Which seems like a good reason. At the same time if abdicating is a viable option for her at all why wait until Charles is in his 60s? Was he not ready before now? What is really happening here? And what are the issues.

Pretty sure Liz'll want to top Queen Vic's record before she gives it away.

Nice bloke Charlie Boy, but comes across to me as complete cretin and no sort of head of state - also blotted his copybook by failing to keep his marriage together, and difficult for the common man like me to comprehend how he could pass over the first Mrs Windsor in favour of that ....................... well shall we just say, to avoid a charge of treason, somewhat less attractive second edition

I think an argument can be made that it'd be ideal, though I don't have a particularly strong view either way.
That said, I'd get rid of the monarchy altogether if it wasn't for money brought in through tourism etc and I suspect Wills would be slightly more of a draw than Charlie.
