Would you act in a gay scene in a play/movie?

I thought I would start another thread since its not related to the other one and I am now genuinely interested in the topic. The poll is mainly related to men but if you're a woman, I'd like to hear your opinion too.
EDIT: obviusly if you aren't allowed to act in such scenes, this doesn't apply to you.

Obviusly this is just a local thing for a community center so no serious actors but still.

I told him I'd do it if he can't find someone with any skill in acting. Yes yes, will post pics, etc if it happens.

What do the guys on here think? Would any of the guys have a problem with doing a scene like that assuming it made sense within the story?

Howe_zat, would that be any different with you in a straight scene if either you or your partner is "in to it?". Would you consider that crossing professional boundaries? I'm mainly interested in the difference between straight and gay perceptions.

I'm not judging btw and I don't think any of you are homophobic but I'm slightly surprised. I said I'd do it because I didn't even think about why I wouldn't possibly do it (aside from the fact that I can't act but I only have two lines and a make out session - eg only one scene). So perhaps it's not purely homophobia I guess as I said in my initial post?

Would you be able to identify a reason why?

As I said, I would do it just as if I was playing any other character (eg a killer even though I'm not, a religious person even though I'm not, a firefighter even though I'm not, etc).

My followup question was going to be if you would do a relatively explicit sex scene if the movie required it. I'm not talking about a pornographic film but say a serious R rated film with a legitimate story. I still would have no problems with it. But I guess that's out as well for you guys?

I don't think I'd act in any scene, tbh but I'd be no less likely to appear in a gay scene.

Wouldn't be unduly concerned if anyone thought I preferred cheese to fish, as it were. As I've related before I once claimed to be gay to prevent myself being chucked out of a student union.

I'm a little surprised so many people simply would not do ANY type of romantic scene (gay or straight). ITSTL.

I probably wouldn't want to act in it, but manly just because of camera shyness. Likewise with Brumby, I wouldn't be any less likely to do a gay scene. I wouldn't want to do an overly explicit one though.

It's not acting in a romantic scene I wouldn't do, it's acting full stop.

Seems kinda gay.

Yea I think there are two broad categories of people who wouldn't act in a gay scene but would in a straight one: 1) people who for whatever reason find something off putting about the act itself, and 2) afraid that other people will think they are gay and/or it would reflect on their masculinity. Of course, in many cases it might be a combination of the two.

Prince said in the other thread that he would not do either most times but would have a little more problems with the gay scene, so he'd be #1. He's not homophobic so I don't want to imply that picking any poll option (or giving any reasoning short of saying something like you dont like gay people) means you are.

What about an explicit straight scene?

Yes but not a pornographic movie sex scene. But in an R rated movie type sex scene. Pick an R rated movie with a straight sex scene.

Wouldn't have an issue in the slightest. Kissed a bloke before for reasons less worthy than helping a friend.

Well I'm still a virgin (I'm 15 FTR) so I wouldn't want to act in sex scene, gay or straight.
