    How long is your commute?

Either to work to school? And what do you do to pass the time?

Studies show that the average commute (one way) is 33 minutes in the US but 44 minutes in Germany. For every 10 minutes that your commute exceeds the national average you have 10% less time to devote to family and community endeavours.

An extreme commuter 1% of the workforce spends 1.5 hours commuting in each direction.

The winner of the greatest commute in the US, a competition run by a magazine, was a chap who travelled 3 hours in each direction. His day started at 4:30am and he got home at 8:30pm.

My commute is just under an hour each way. It used to be 1 hour and 15 minutes each day and the extra 15 minutes was a killer.

The survey said that most people refuse to commute more than 45 minutes each way.

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

    Crikey!

My commute to work is about 35 minutes - 15-minute walk to the bus stop, and 20 minutes on the bus.

Met a guy from Sao Paulo who claimed to travel three and a half hours each way. Might have been exaggerating but it's one of the few places I could imagine it being true.

How often do you go by car and how often by train? What do you do on the train to pass time?

    40 minutes one way.

5 minute walk to the bus stop. 10 mins bus ride. Then 10 mins train ride and then a 15 min walk

by car it takes somewhere between 10-15 mins (have to do that when I set off late for work and then have to grab a cab)

I don't have a driving licence - coordination not my forte although I think I'll pass my next test (failed one FTR). Fortunately there are a bunch of lads who live close by in work so I join their car share scheme most of the time now. If I do get the train, which I have to if I want to get in early, it's music and newspaper, CW or stick cricket to pass the time.

Going to be working away for most of April and early May and my hotel will be a five minute walk away so thar's a sleep saver. Later in the year I'll be travelling all over the show for work, provided of course I have my licence!
