Who watches reality TV?

Got home tonight and my wife was watching some episode of the Kardashians where Kim was justifying her divorce after a few days of marriage

She is obviously a good sort (Kim that is) but the whole thing was so obviously contrived that it was ****n tragic to think that millions of people tune in every week to watch this ****

I get the fact that the Kardashians, Osbornes, etc are very good businesspeople but it really is the lowest form of "entertainment"

I wish I'd been the genius who first figured out that his TV company didn't have to worry about quality, interest or originality when writing his scripts, he could just fill it with silly stereotypes and then dub it "reality" in order to get away with it. As an extra bonus, this means that he wouldn't have to pay the actors.

What a magnificent bastard he was.

Used to watch the Apprentice. In fact I watched it back when it first came on TV. Stopped watching it because it's just the same bunch of ego centric people on TV trying to promote themselves rather than getting that job.

Have always watched "The Amazing Race". Though I think Social isn't referring to reality competition shows, but rather the "follow their life" type of shows. The Amazing Race to me has always been high quality TV. Not only do I love the competition aspect of it, but I love the locales that we get to discover through the show.

I hate those reality shows where you have the dog/kid nanny. It's always an English lady in an American household.

The person in the role of TV programming executive now has the easiest job in the world - get a hat, write 'cooking show', 'home renovation show', 'fat person losing weight show', and 'talent show' on pieces of paper and then draw one out. Wa la, that's your new show.

Reality TV ****s me to tears. It's not reality. It's people trying to be entertaining because they know they're on TV. And usually they're as boring as ****.
