    'Militant Secularism threat to society''

So some Conservative Baroness has said that the rise of 'Militant Atheism' is a threat to British society.

BBC News - Baroness Warsi: 'Faith must not be diluted'

Personally, I'm not really sure I understand why she thinks this is necessarily on the rise at all? I mean I know church attendances are rising, but I'm fairly sure that the populations of other religions is rising in the UK and bar one or two fairly major cases, there hasn't really been many examples of prominent Atheism in the news.

    Thoughts?

Would say there is more "religious apathy" than militant atheism to be honest. In any case, I'd say it's a bit of a non-issue.

Sounds about right for religious talk.
For as long as there is limited overs cricket - of ten, twenty or fifty overs - there will remain the Sri Lankan spinners' mid-innings choke

As Jon Stewart put it the other night, these people have confused being persecuted with not getting everything they want. More relevantly to this country, they have confused persecution with the justified removal of unjustified privileges.
Every 5 years we have an election and have to decide who are the least obnoxious out of all the men. Then one gets in and they age really quickly. Which is always fun to watch.

It's just a reaction to idiot religious people who are hell bent on destruction. I'm not surprised that Atheists are angry.

However Atheists already consider religious people as mentally ill. How long before they upgrade that to something else and start retaliating against the rest of us who aren't hell bent on destruction.

    Never...
Most Athiest don't care much about religion, the problems start when religion tries to use government to legislate their beliefs.

Ridiculous. You might as well say there's a threat from militant democracy. A secularist doesn't force their beliefs on anyone quite the opposite.

Rubbish, by your logic people who oppose theocratic dictatorships are hell bent on destruction. Heaven forbid we should think for ourselves...
