Icon5 The most famous person in the world

While I was in hospital for the past few days I was having a conversation with a nurse about who the most famous person in the world currently is, in terms of sheer number of people that know them and can identify them.

I claimed Barack Obama. She first suggested Lady Gaga or Madonna before I said "bish you be crazy."

There wouldn't be a person who is known to every single person (above say 13 years old) in the world. So which **** is known by the most?

And also, who would be the most famous of all time? As in, when they were alive, who would have the highest % of recognisability in the world? I'd say it would have to be someone in the past 15 years due to the globalisation of media outlets.

    Barack Obama for mine.

Nev to overtake him in a couple of years though obv.

Pretty sure the nurse doesn't post on CW buddy, so not sure who you're talking to.

Barack Obama is a good shout.

I honestly think Tiger Woods could be a chance to be close.

Assume this has a "currently alive" qualification? If not it'd have to be Jebus. Or maybe Mohammad.
    - As featured in The Independent.

"Predictably, the ending of his international career did not end the argument about Pietersen's merits, as an army of informed commentators and Piers Morgan weighed in to defend or attack him."

Either of the MJs would be top ten on an all time list I reckon.

    Currently it probably is Obama.

All time, I would have to say Ali in his prime was the most recognizable person on the planet. Heck he's probably still in the top ten.

And nah the Queen wouldn't be close.

Most people would have heard of the Queen of England, but I wouldn't say most people in most countries could identify her if given a line up of old women.

I used to think Michael Jackson was the most famous person on the planet.

Maybe Oprah would be up there these days. Who knows what types of **** gets shown in those communist countries though.
