![]() Know him mainly for his thoughts on (or against) religion and enjoyed a lot of what he had to write. RIP.

RIP. Great mind, even if he did go a little neo-con after 9/11.
Reminds me of the old joke about an atheist at his own funeral: all dressed up and nowhere to go.

Loved the debate he had with Galloway (which I think Galloway won). |

One of the best. He just destroyed people with his arguments. Will be missed.

Why? He took on the arrogant. There's nothing so arrogant as claiming you have divine knowledge and revelation, that you're one of God's chosen people and the rest of us just didn't get the memo. I don't see why Hitchens is the arrogant one.
One of the finest orators of our time, and will be missed. I didn't agree with a lot of what he said - his support for war on abstract concepts in particular - but I'd be lying if I said he didn't inspire me as well.

RIP. Was very sad to hear about his death.
Not someone I always agreed with, but you had to respect him, and he was a very entertaining writer. Why Orwell Matters is a great read for anyone interested in Orwell as a writer, incidentally. Nice title for that obit.
