    As I said, you likely won't be engaging china or Russia directly in dogfights so having a fourth vs fifth generation airplane is less of a requirement than having a carrier.

    I know a carrier is much more expensive than a single fighter but IMO that should be a goal - assuming of course that you actually care about counterbalancing another power in the region.
    We used to have an aircraft carrier, HMAS Melbourne, but it kept running into and sinking friendly destroyers, with associated loss of life, so we got rid of her.

    F22 raptor is 80s technology, by now USAF probably has the ability to blow the fifth generation aircraft out of the sky with relative ease.

    And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

    Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

    So now the USAF now is flying planes with US Navy logo on it? I wouldn't post that on any USAF forums .

    Oops my bad SS. This is just concept art from Boeing, on what they think the 6th gen fighter will look like.

    According to them the next gen will use energy weapons, hypersonic speed, highly networked and extremely low RCS.

    Flying into a defence disaster | Robert Gottliebsen | Commentary | Business Spectator

    Fair to say more than a few people owe Kopp/Goon an apology. At least, if it does get dropped, it won't be another Seapsprite (thank ****).

    EDIT: The words which Gottliebsen is talking about from Adm. Venlet originate from here;

    It's all Obama's fault for scrapping the F-22.

    F-22 is wayyy to expensive to become your "main" strike fighter. No country in the world, not even the US, can afford to build 2000+ of those babies.
