Why do you say that F22 > T50???

Russian jets maneuvers have always been superior to U.S. jets except I would say if you were to compare F16 with its Russian counterpart. F22's maneuvers are not better than a T50 period.

Well, I think (s)he's right in some cases. The Su-27's could reputedly put the poor nuffy behind the yoke through +13g's. Which, of course, is thoroughly pointless when most people are unconscious from +8 and the hardiest of fighter jocks from +10.

Not that being maneuverable means superiority anyway. The biggest advances which define 5th gen jets have been around stealth signature, use of composites and sit awareness, all of which are redundant, for an increasing range of ops, by UAV's.

awta. The role of the fighter jet might be on the way to a rapid decline if not already
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Wasn't T-50 being jointly developed by India and Russia?

The Hindu : News / International : T-50 stealth fighter makes public debut

India was working on one indigenously as well IIRC (AMCA).

The T-50 is mostly funded by India but development/technology is all Russian. The Russians will produce first for themselves and then will produce a first batch for India and for the subsequent batches they will provide TOT to India.

    @Faisal

T-50 is only a prototype at the moment, whereas the F-22 is fully developed and being used by the USAF.

The Raptor had its first flight in 1990, whereas the T-50 had it 20 years later in 2010. The T-50 will be ready in around 2018-2020, whereas the Raptor was ready in 2005.

By the time T-50 comes out, the second generation of Raptor's are going to be rolling out. They will be much better than the T-50. Even now, the Raptor is better in terms of stealth than the T-50.

The T-50 is funded about 30/40% by India and about 30% technology is also provided by India as per what is revealed with the rest and the construction done by Russia. The Russians are supposed to produces about 1000 jets out of which India will get 200.(India get's 2 seaters while Russia gets the single Seaters.)

Each jet is expected to cost half of what each F-22 Raptor costs.

The mass production of T-50 is supposed to start in 2014 tbf, with a test run in 2013 not 2018-20.

T-50 will have more ammunition carrying capacity and almost double the range of a Raptor, but will be slightly slower in top speed. Which is why the other stealth aircraft India is expected to start by around the same time is a short range one.

Btw, didn't Obama scuttle the F-22 Raptor program in any case IIRC calling them "outdated" while pursuing F-35 and selling them to everyone?(though he also stopped Funding for the new F-35 engine too, i think).

Don't worry about Obama cancelling the programme. The USAF will see to it that they make more of these birds in the future.

Pretty much the reason APA are arguing against the JSF. We'll be delivered an aircraft with lots of new tech never used in an actual battlefield. RIsky (and expensive!).

The Aussies have always bought the F-18 fighters. Maybe you could get the US to turn it into a stealth plane, like they did with the F-15, which they remodelled into the F-15 Silent Eagle.

Just bought a few Super Hornets. Not exactly stealth but they have measures to reduce their radar imprint.

Rubbish, I've never seen a Russian jet fly upside down above a US jet, with the Russian pilot flippin the bird......
