Thought I'd bump this to seek CWers' advice.

So on Tuesday I accidentally went for a swim in the sea with my crappy old cellphone in the pocket of my togs. Whoops.

So, for a replacement - iPhone, Blackberry or another crappy non-smartphone? Persuade me.

I pay something like 60 clams here and that gives me unlimited free text messages, unlimited free calls to Optus, 500 clams worth of calls to other networks and something like 2GB of data and I never go anywhere near my cap a month.

Also have insurance on my phone which is 13 bones a month, so it's about $73 all up.

That's well worth it imo, let alone $45 a month.

How is the notifications light and predictive text 'ingenious' ffs.

It's also too late to try and enter the market with a phone that's so similar to the iPhone and android counterparts and expect it to save your company. I doubt many people will be willing to change to a whole new platform for a phone that doesn't really have any obvious advantages over it's immediate competition.

Reckon the phone's really for the Crackberry loyalists rather than a play for iPhone's market share. They are numerous and zealous.

tbh, it's a miracle BB's still with us.

Yeah I thought he's be silenced by the various cricket boards out there for calling their bowlers chuckers.

One thing I'll say about my Blackberry Torch is that the build quality is abso****inglutely fantastic. I've dropped the sucker a million times over the course of two years and it still runs as well as it did when I bought it, hasn't missed a beat. This phone's an 'ard ****.

This. It's selling into its existing customer base.

On a slightly unrelated note - I am now bored of my Iphone, after years of loyalty to Apple. There... I said it.
