If you plan on using it for nothing other than the phone, probably doesn't matter too much. Everything else, well having been a Crackberry owner for a while now, I don't think it's terribly awesome so I'd be willing to give an iPhone a go.

I have an iPhone, which I think is pretty neat, so iPhone for me, although I would say that the Androids are better, especially the HTC HD which my dad has.

I have a Galaxy S II, love it. Though the iPhone 4s is exactly the same.

Android. Blackberry is dead. Apple is for masochists. Windows phones are catching up, will probably have reasonable market share in a year or two.

'Phone' is a bit of a misnomer though. The primary function for mine is as a portable internet device.

Apparently you can get Ubuntu on phones now. What a time to be alive.

Though, that costs money up front rather than the post-paid monthly data plan from AT&T.

Just as an example, my data plan through Verizon costs $30 a month, so over the course of my 2-year contract, I would pay a total of $720 for the data plan. A decent tablet or laptop could be had for less than that, but you'd have to pay up front unless you financed it. The extra money is worth it to me, because I can tether my phone's internet connection to my laptop at work, where I otherwise wouldn't have an internet connection, amongst other things, using it while out and about, etc.
Yea, I have both a tablet and a iphone. I mainly use the iphone to listen to radio music, or listen to ESPN podcast while working out, or walking, for email while I'm on campus but don't have a book bag with me. Also listening to white noise app with a noise canceling headphones while studying is absolute gold (you can study next to a construction site and it's awesome). It's just more convenient and I find that since I started the school year, I rarely use my ipad. I either have my book bag, in which case I use my laptop, or I don't, in which case I use my iphone.

You're right that the data plan is expensive though but I find the convenience is worth the cost (especially if I switch to the new low amount of bandwith plan).
