So ridiculous and outrageous that.

Btw, this incident is a symptom of a larger churn that is happening in India right now.

The citizenry and especially the growing middle class is getting more aware and restless and questioning the leaders more and more. Tools like Social Media, RTI and even the broadcast media amongst others are also helping in this regard.

On the other hand the leaders who are used to sitting in ivory towers, and being above the rest without being cross questioned and criticized don't like this growing change one bit, and are trying to resist by using whatever sly means possible.

I’m sure you won’t be surprised that all of this is happening in Pakistan as well. One of the favorite activities of the government is to ban Facebook/Twitter on flimsy grounds like “hurting religious sentiments” (YouTube is currently banned in Pakistan for example due to that Prophet Muhammad video). Of course, it wouldn’t take much for the government to stretch the religion card to apply the ban in cases where they are getting criticized. The hallmark of a weak and oppressed society is the suppression of freedom of speech. Things are improving on that front in Pakistan, but we have miles to go still.

Yup, has been for several weeks. The Defenders Of The Faith in Pakistan have figured out that banning YouTube is the best way to defend Islam. Your move infidels!!

Yeah, finally. Good move by the new president Mukherjee though, don't get why it took long anyway.

Even Human rights activists were finding it difficult to defend him, and the secrecy while executed well wasn't really needed in this case.

Afzal guru however will be the real test of metal for the new president and this government. Heard some rumours that could happen this week too.

Remember Teja saying it's actually been a very quick trial and hanging, relatively of course.

Yeah, it's been pretty quick by Indian standards.

And Smali Rajiv Gandhi's killers are still in jail pending execution.
