So Gary Glitter has been arrested by police investigating the Jimmy Savile allegations. Don't rate his chances of getting a fair trial from a jury in England tbh.

I'm reminded of wise words spoken in another thread:

So it looks like they have arrested the leader of the gang then.

Well quite. But proving any of it will be quite a task, you'd think.

I can understand the lack of complaints against Savile, but struggle with the idea that more complaints are suddenly emerging against Mr Gadd - wouldn't be surprised if its just a case of the police letting him know they haven't forgotten about him, and fair play to them if it is - despite its many and varied drawbacks there are a few advantages to "Life on Mars" style policing

I'm not going to risk the wrath of the Internet Thought Police by sticking up for GG, but it seems to me he's a bit of a soft target - I get the feeling the police could arrest him pretty much any time they want to. When I heard, getting on for a week ago, that "there are about to be many more arrests" and, all we've had so far, is that they've arrested Gary Glitter, it inevitably seems a bit of a letdown.

I was really hoping it was DLT that had been arrested.

Agree with this, it makes you wonder if they will arrest anyone else at all.

Actually Jonathon King will probably get pulled in at some stage.

Last I heard about him was that there was a strong suspicion he was innocent. Who knows now though, anyone at the Beeb in the 70s could be involved, I guess.

Reckon a few people have fingered () Glitter just to get him sent down again due to his past. Claim a touching, sell your story, and watch him burn, no lose for the unscrupilious really

Well now that we're on the subject, I always thought there was something not quite right about Peter West.

Funnily enough my friend has a picture with him up at Roundhay Park, Saville that is he looks a bit dodgy in that.
