yeah I read that today although didn't watch the video as yet......
some really adhominem attacks from Rushdie at one point calling Imran "a slightly better looking version of Gaddafi"
All these guys boycotting/issuing fatwas/protesting etc.. against Rushdie only make him look more glamrous than anything when he really is a nothing special author.
Got so much hoohah and publicity about the Jaipur Literary Fest fiasco here, where he was clearly wronged.
Rushdie is a controversial figure and thrives by creating it.....
hence this outburst
The amount of time in his speech devoted to Imran really shows how upset Rushdie was that Imran did not turn up. LOL

the Rushdie incident could not have come up at a better time for Imran.
but Rushdie's outburst doesn't really affect Imran
most in Pakistan's electorate won't know of Rushdie or won't care about a literary figure in any case
Rushdie is easy one of the most well known international figures in Pakistan, the biggest lollywood hit in the 90's had the Rushde charecter as a villian.

lol.....dude, as if a lot of the population actually watches lollywood?
the lower middle class as well as the labour class has remained loyal to lollywood throughout hence the industry still exists and part of the reason you see such tasteless cinema. Talk to any auto driver or chai wala and they will surprise you with their loolywood knowledge.
