    Greetings from the Gulf!!

    Hi all

Wicked, on holiday in the United Arab Emirates at the moment, and just got back from Oman... Quite a culture shock, although on the cricketing front I have been past Sharjah stadium and saw two kids playing in a net in some backstreet in Ras Al Khaima where I am staying right now... every second advert features someone from the Indian Cricket team... Usually Sachin lol...

Anyway off to Dubai on Friday , then home. the weather is lovely

Have you taken part in dune surfing? I have seen the Australian cricket team to that. I wouldnt mind going to Dubai one day although you wont be able to open up a can of beer in some of the countries near by without getting flogged.

I havent done any dune surfing I really want to actually but there is just too little time... Im off to the wild wadi tomorrow which is the biggest waterpark out of the USA... Ricky Ponting and Steven Fleming are on ads a lot now, dont have a clue what they are saying though...

Dubai is quite amazing, very cosmopolitan, but it looks like the only cricket being played in the region is around Sharjah.. I saw about 100 kids playing today on a bare patch of land in the midday sun... There seems to be loads of enthusiasm in places, I wonder if they know who the ICC are.....

Oh by the way, if you are thinking about going to Dubai, i reccomend it, although the small towns are very boring, you can drink as much as you want in Dubai, just be prepared to pay hotel bar prices, and you wont get any on the streets... Alcohol is banned completely in Sharjah

So you are seeing Indian ads there too. They were made to speak in Hindi in those ads. They are both appearing for Videocon . Enjoy your trip !

Not only those two but Brett Lee too. But he appears in a beer ad and so i don't think it will be shown there. Lee, Ponting and Fleming enjoyed quite a bit of publicity and Lee enjoyed it and even promised to bring his music band here and perform some shows for charity.

My assumption would have been that it was either a) dubbed or b) being told one or two sentences to say exactly.

Even so, you must give them credit, as to speak a couple of sentences in Hindi, when you cant speak it, takes some effort.
